Two questions:

1. In order to motivate yourself to get a page done that you just do not feel like doing, you decide to treat yourself to a reward when you get it done. What would that reward be?

2. Do you ever use digital scrapbooking as a reward for other tasks you do not feel like doing? What tasks?

My reward is just the pleasure of sharing it with someone else that is willing to compliment me on it. That is what keeps me motivated. Love it when someone else really likes it or appreciates it. That is my reward.

No is my answer to question 2.

Question #1. I reward myself by actually printing out my layout and showing it to my family or emailing it to those out of town. If I am not thrilled with what I have done, no one sees it but me and I never mention it. The compliments are very thrilling.

    Question #2. No.

My reward would be to spend some time just playing around in Photoshop playing with tools and effects, instead of having a purpose.

I don't use digital scrapbooking as a reward. I do tend to use it as a relief from longish spells of intense genealogical research.

    l. I don't remember ever doing a layout that I didn't want to do, but if it ever happened, I think my reward would be to treat myself to something sweet and yummy!!! Ohhhhh, I'm so bad with the sweets!!!!

    2. Yes! Happening right now! I have to get the whole house clean today for the weekend. So I clean for 1/2 hour and then play on the computer for 1/2 hour. Been doing it all day since early this morning (which is why I am here now!) and the house is almost done!!! :o)
OK, times up----back to work! See you in a 1/2 hour!!!!!

Oh, when I first started scrapbooking, that is what kept me motivated too. I could post it in the Yahoo Group and immediately feedback would come. I would print it and lay it on the coffee table and my men always seemed anxious to see and read it. It kept me wanting to do more.

I seem to have lost that now. Even when I upload to the gallery here I do not get many comments and rarely are they immediate feedback.

Praise can go a long way, can't it?

I'm w/Nancy...usually sitting down to digi-scrap is the reward rather than the other way around (so YES to #2). For cleaning house is usually mine also, lol! Or when I have work on the computer (actual paying work!) I take a break to scrap. I guess my reward if I didn't enjoy doing a LO would be sharing it w/my hubby who is so complimentary on the pages I show him.

No rewards for me. I just like knowing that sometime in the future, someone will be admiring my scrapping. I guess I do like learning all the features of Photoshop along the way.

omg Hummie, I gained 5 lbs. just seeing that picture! No rewards for me, either. Unless maybe to take the time to go browse through some stores to see if anything catches my eye. I rarely have time for that anymore. I agree that positive feedback is a great reward! The other day I was leaving work and a guy coming in stopped me and told me he really likes what I do with my pictures (I post a lot of my layouts on facebook). I'm going to take one of the books I've had made in so he can see what I actually do with them. I think he may be interested in giving it a try.

Chocolate and oh mom that's cool.

No. I do digiscrapping to unwind at end of day. And to prepare the past for my kids and I like to learn new stuff ie, PSE.

I don't really reward myself - having the time, peace and quiet, plus the fun of doing things in the software is my reward, LOL! I do still get a buzz from posting LOs on my blog though, even though I'm sure they're rarely seen, LOL!!

    2. Do you ever use digital scrapbooking as a reward for other tasks you do not feel like doing? What tasks?
Not really! I do have to force myself to do housework for ten mins (LOL!!!) first before starting to scrap when I have a free day!

Digiscrapping is so much a part of my day generally - way more than paper scrapping could be (space/mess constraints with 2 kids around!) - that it just exists alongside other stuff - there's no bargaining with it, LOL!!

My reward for motivating myself is the smile on the faces of my daughters in law when they say ahh and smile at the finished layout.

And my reward for tasks I don't feel like doing is plodding on sorthing my digi elements into Acdsee it's taking sooo long, I refurbish houses and I actually do knock walls down, so the exremes are rewarding in themselves

I don't really reward myself as it is all so new to me that I use digi scrapping as my reward after all the boring tasks I have to do

Scrapping is my way to relax. I don't really reward myself after scrapping, but scrapping is a reward of sorts, I guess.

Scrapping is my hobby, but is always put on the back burner while I'm teaching. Summer is awesome for me to get more time to scrap. My reward for scrapbooking is always the way it makes me feel and then the joy of others who see the pages I make about them. I love documenting life this way.

As far as jobs I don't want to do that I reward myself with scrapping.....that one is easy. Laundry! My laundry room and my scrapbook room is right next to each other and I will scrap all day until the laundry is done. (I make sure to go through the house and find every possible item that needs washed on those days so I can scrap longer!! hehe)

1--my reward right now, is just seeing what I have learned and showing my family

2-- No ,but I do have to do things before I sit down or they might not get done.

Thanks for the yummy reward, Hummie! Photos are the only reward I can accept right now since I'm trying to get into shape for my annual physical.
    1. For my reward, I just think about why I decided to start scrapping that page. If it's not working for me, I change it - which makes digiscrapping so much more fun!

    2. Yes, I use digiscrapping as an excuse not to clean up. It's only a temporary reprieve, but it makes me feel good for a little while.

For me I some times have to push myself to get started, but after that I get right into it and really enjoy it. So as of yet I don't have to reward myself to do a page. I suppose the reward is knowing that what I deo is for the kids in the future, to record our history so that if something happens to me the kids, and hubby know they were loved and that I loved my life.

Sometimes I use digi scrappin to reward myself for getting the housework done, but mainly I use it as a way to keep my mind active while my body does it's healing thing, however long it takes.

    Cheers
    Michelle
