Hey,

I want to see about getting some ideas from other SAHMs. I'm having a hard time with Time Management. Since I stopped working I thought I would have the hang of it by now, but I'm not. Anyone have any suggestions on how to be able to fit everything in a week.

LOL! I've been a SAHM for 9 years and I still don't get it right! I think it's all about setting your priorities. What is REALLY important? For me, it's spending time with the kids and getting their school work done, putting food on the table, and them helping with chores. My house isn't perfectly clean, probably won't be until I have no little kids at home anymore. I'm learning to love the dissheveled look they leave. I don't think I could live like other family members always picking up right after them, not really spending time with them b/c I'm always cleaning and worrying about keeping things perfect. As they get older, it is getting better. They become more capable to do more things, ie. chores. I do homeschool, so they are with me 24/7. But, I do seem to get the things done that need doing. Lists are good. If you really have to get certain things done, lists are very helpful. Until the last couple of years, I'd never been a list person, but now, I have to have one or I forget things. It makes me feel good, like I've accomplished something. I also have a chore chart for the kids for every day. They like getting their chores ticked off and they get an allowance off of that, if they've done their chores for the week.

Lists work great for me too, both at home and work. SInce my hubby became a stay-at-home-hubby he has learned to make lists so that he and I are on the same track...ie-dishes, laundry needs done, wash sheets/bedcover, vacuum, dust or whatever else...we make a big list on a dry erase board then the kids can see what all needs done and help out too.

    Priortizing and lists!

...it seems I start out good, but always need to step back and refresh my priorities and make new lists!

Yep I agree with what others said. I have been a stay at home mom for 12 years. Yep 12 years. Prioritizing what needs to be done and remember you need to set some time for you. Also remember not everything will get done. I have been doing this for 12 years and not one time in that whole time did everything get done. Also with kids, just remember not to beat you self up because its hard to keep a house clean with kids. I have 3, I have came to the realization there is always going to be something to clean. I'm not going to make my myself crazed thinking I should be able to keep a house squeaky clean it just ant going to happen. Just relax and enjoy the time you have with your kids they will be a teen before you know it. My daughter is 12 and just started middle school this last year. Next month is her first formal dance. OMGosh I just cant believe it. Its tears me up.
