      Craft CD Albums

Check out Monique's post on CD Albums! I thought they were put on cut cardboard, but this is so much better!

I can totally see me making one of these if I would ever have time!

Here's some of the pics...but go to her blog to read her comments.

I imagine they used a cutter you can buy for traditional scrapbooking.

Cutting a circle would be difficult. I just bought some 75 cent, brightly colored foam CD cases, with the intent of making little scrapbook albums for kids w/ them. I know I've seen CD sized kits/templates/QPs.

They actually make CD shaped stickers to make your own CDs - I guess you could just print on a sheet of those and stick them to a CD - much easier than cutting out paper.

Shanners right. I was wondering if there was such a thing after I wrote my last post, but wasnt' for sure. I am betting that's what they do and is the best way!

Actually, stupid me...I knew there was such a thing....I've used them before!

I think there are a bit expensive....let me look...

Memorex 20 pack high gloss- $15.99
      Memorex 120 pack matte $23.99
      Meteck 50 pack $15.99

Not as bad as I thought....seems they come with a Word document template. Not sure how you would create a .jpg in PSE to bring it in to match the Word template for printing.

The examples shared in these photos, though, do not have the holes in the middle....they've somehow covered them up so they do not show creases where the holes are...know what I mean?

She didn't use stickers on hers....she cut and pasted them. A crop-a-dile cuts the holes in the CD. A crop-a-dile is about $12 to $30 bucks at Amazon. A guess a regular hole punch wouldn't work?

      *****

Then I scrapped the pages, printed them on 5×7 photos at Walmart, cut and pasted them onto old CDs. Then I would have punched holes in them but since I don’t have my Crop-a-dile yet (bought one on Ebay last week, just waiting for it to arrive now!) so what did I do? Well, my amazing friend Brooke sent me a couple dozen CDs that she punched holes in for me! Isn’t that amazing? So my CDs already had holes in them, so after I glued each page onto a CD I just used a knife to cut out the hole as best I could in the photo. Then I threaded them all onto a Loose Leaf Ring and added some ribbon! And voila!

I've done hybrid projects with CD cases as desk calendars for my desk at school. These are wonderful projects for all those CD's that are outdated and obsolete, too. Thanks for this thread.

I bought a cropadile specifically for use with cd albums. I have trouble with sizes though. Sometimes when I've done one it comes out smaller than the cd, but I've also had the opposite happen and it be way too large!! Someday when I have more time I'll figure it out. (Lesson Essentials # 20)
