Christmas ornaments
As you put up your tree this year and drag out all of those old photos. Why not take a moment to snap some photos of ornaments?
Have any memories of them that should be scrapped?
I invite you to share here any craft ideas for making ornaments. I shared some on my blog last year that makes it easy for me to share early.
It made me smile when I realized in the last week or two that Google searches were leading a lot of people to my blog to see these images. It must be that time of year!

This ornament is one of my long time favorites from my childhood. I believe I made this in girlscouts as a youth.
1. Cut a variety of fabric into small circles.
2. Sew a strong thread up and down around the outer edges of the circle.
3. Put a cottonball in the center of the circle and pull the thread so that it draws together, closing the circle into a ball. Knot the thread.
4. With a strong thread, run the needle through the center of all of the balls and pull to bring them into a circle, tie a strong knot.
5. Tie on a bow with grograin ribbon and another string for hanging.
What an inexpensive, quick, and impressive gift!~Hummie

At one time I had a home daycare and each year came up with a new ornament for the children to give their parents.
This was one of the easiest ornmanets to do!
This ornmanet is merely toothpicks glued to each other (gluing around circular) with a cut out of a Christmas card in the middle. I had saved previous year's Christmas cards and allowed the children to choose whatever photo they wanted. Of course, I thought the nativity scene looked most appropriate.
I suppose you could be creative and find other things or make other things to glue in the center.

This is one of my favorite ornaments. I did not get good photos of it, but you can get the idea.
Years ago, one of the mothers of my cub scout pack printed out small photos taken throughout the year and then decoupaged them onto a heart shape. She has attached the gold ribbon to it for hanging.
I really enjoy looking at these memories every year when I hang this on my tree. I also feel appreciated all over again.

This is an ornament my son's teacher made for his class. It is another inexpensive idea. A box of puzzle pieces does not cost much. She cut out a circle piece of cardstock and glued puzzle pieces around the edges. She topped off the puzzle pieces with shiny Christmas stickers. I suppose anything can be in the middle, but she used school photos. As in my tookpick ornament, I suppose you could use things cut from Christmas cards too. Then there is a coating of shellack (varnish) over the top of everything.

Here's an ornament the cub scout den made one year. It is made with spoons wrapped with yarn. The spoon for the hands and feet are broken off, I believe. The hat is a piece of felt glued on and the face is drawn on with magic markers. The tie is pieces of frayed yarn tucked under the blue yarn. Certain this could be adapted to a variety of uniforms.

Paper Ornaments
Isn't this cute? You can see it on Ms Mint's blog for instructions. She did this for Thanksgiving, but I can see it on the tree!

Michi I thought you might get here sooner or later. Now that closet should be getting empty soon.

That closet is still a long way from empty...but with every piece of paper I use, gets me closer.
One thing,...I tossed out a bunch of pens. The ink dried up! Probably had close to 100 of them.

I made some mini layouts of my granddaughters, printed them and laminated them, punched a hole in the center top, threaded some beads on a ribbon and had hanging Christmas ornaments. I just tried to upload a photo of them, but after I select the photo to upload, I'm automatically being taken to digiscrapmap.com. Very frustrating!
