Thread: Smash Books

Well, a smash book to me is just a fancy name for a glorified scrapbook! I reckon they started with a basic book, added a few odds and ends and voila, just look at how much more expensive it now is!!! This could just be me being totally cynical of course! I reckon most scrapbookers would be able to make something just as good as the bought smash books though ;)

Yep, I'm sure there are cheaper ways. I guess the thing is they have lots of prompting things such as the pages themselves and little themed pads, etc. I got all four of my girls and my DIL these for Christmas and they all love them. We are planning to get together to work on them and visit (since we don't quilt at the moment or we'd have a quilting bee).
Michael's, the craft store has them now. I haven't seen them at our walmart. At the holidays I had to mail order everything. That was nice because they came in sets.
We like to use composition books, too. It's fun to decorate the cover with magazine cutouts and cover with clear packing tape.

I reckon you're right about the prompting and stuff, sometimes, that little bit of exatr helo really makes a difference! I like recovering notebooks too, as oyu can taker a really ordinary book and make it into something unique.
I've heard others talk about Michaels. I wish we had something like that here in the UK. One of my friends went to the USA a couple of years ago and needed an extra suitcase for all the stuff she bought at Michaels whilst she was over there!

My daughter loves hers too. I got her one for Christmas and she bought one for her cousin before we moved. It's been great for her. I've always had notebooks and such available for her to use as a journal or whatever, but she's never done it. With this she keeps up with it. I plan on getting her more of the extras for Christmas. I buy ours from Amazon. Amazon almost always beat the instore prices for me. Plus I have to drive at the very least a half hour, usually an hour, to get to any of those stores. But I also noticed that they are at walmart and michaels. I believe that I also saw them on the joann's website the other day.~Jeannette~

Crochet uses a hook. Pirates have hooks, and they are cool. So crochet is cool because of the hook.
