September Inner Relfections Challenge
As I am currently going through many changes and countless challenges in my personal life, I find myself reflecting inward more and more often. Who have I become? What brought me to where I am in my life today? Am I everything I hoped I would be? What's in store for my future? Where can I take my life next? As I started asking myself these questions, I decided to read inspirational books and, as I fully expected, I began wanting to scrap pages about concepts, thoughts, personality traits, strengths and weaknesses I saw within myself. Things I wanted to change and things I wanted to nurture; things I wanted to explore and things I wanted to purge.
I challenge you to do something similar. Each month, I'm going to bring you a word or short phrase. I want you to reflect on it and scrap a page about what it means to you. The page does not have to be about you, just what you want to represent to us about your thoughts on my topic of choice.
September Inner Reflections Topic: Everyday Miracles
Inspirational quote adapted from Warrior of the Light by Paulo Cohelo... "The Warrior of the Light concentrates on the small miracles of daily life. He is capable of seeing what is beautiful because he carries beauty within himself, for the world is a mirror and gives back to each man the reflection of his own face."
Whether we realize it at the time or not, our lives are filled with daily miracles. Too many think a miracle has to be something big, something witnessed by many. But miracles come in all shapes and forms. It might be unexpectedly waking earlier than normal and witnessing a gorgeous sunrise or it might be receiving a phone call from an old friend just days after thinking of him/her. There are so many miraculous things in our lives if we just slow down to recognize them.
In keeping in theme with our fabulous collab this month, I'm calling my page "Little Did I Know...This Was A Miracle In The Making" It's a very simple page, but holds oh-so-much meaning for me!
Let me tell you about it.... I hate the beach. And I never use the word "hate" lightly! I hate the hot sand, getting it everywhere, baking under a glaring sun, salt water that makes my skin burn and itch; I think it's boring and pointless. Give me a cabin by a lake anyday! But my boys had never been to the beach and they both wanted to go sooooo very much. I relented because I knew it would be a good experience for them. We had so much fun! I went out in the water with them, we dug in the sand, made friends with an older couple who brought their grandsons, talked to an old man fishing, watched kayakers, walked the whole length of the beach and back. It was a blast. And it was my miracle for that day...seeing these two precious boys--whom I was never allowed to take anywhere when I was still with my husband--with looks of pure joy on their faces, watching them experience so many new things, and learning that I was having fun through them even though I had convinced myself I'd be making a "sacrifice" by taking them. (Incidentally, the only "real" thing in my page is my boys! They were 2 separate pics of the boys at different times of the day that I extracted and put with a beach-themed kit. Isn't modern technology a miracle too??!! LOL)
Take a look at your life as it is now or think about an instance in the past and share with me one of these little everyday miraces. Maybe it's something you took for granted at the time or hadn't even considered a daily miracle until now or maybe you know right away that it was a daily miracle. Whatever it is, share it with us and help us all appreciate our everyday miracles a little more!
As a posting prize, you will receive this cluster I created from pieces in the September Collab, Little Did I Know:
