Do moths count as insects? I think I need to go back to school to remember what qualifies!

Take 12 September # 9 - My Red Sedum are covered with hundreds of moth. I wonder if I should try to get rid of them and how. by Hummie~, on Flickr~Hummie

Yep, I can see his attitude! That reminds me of one I captured just like that on a headlight.... now where is that one.... it was at a wedding shower a few years ago....have to go look.
Those are just so fun, aren't they? I think they are walking sticks.~Hummie

I just happened to take this photo a last week when I was practicing with some more settings on my camera! Kinda cute little thing. From the side, it looks just like a leaf.Firefly662...I know I can, I know I can...

Can't resist sharing this one - also from June. I've seen a lot of blue-green dragonflies, but I thought this red one was unusual. I was amazed he let me get so close; I don't have a fancy camera, so I was pleased with the results!

Firefly .... that's such a cool up close shot! ... is you name Colleen? I'm trying to remember.
Anita, that is a cicada in the first one, right?
That second one is red and cool.~Hummie

Hummie, I wondered what it was - I know what cidadas sound like, but didn't know what they looked like!
And - I have a gob of moths (& bees!) on my autumn joy sedum, have them every year, doesn't seem to hurt the plants, so just enjoy them!

Tammy, thanks for starting such a fun theme!!
Is that a 'stink bug' in your photo? It looks like the things that like to hide inside the hollow part of raspberries when we're picking them - if you happen to pop one in your mouth they are AWFUL!!

Yes, Anita it's a stink bug. Agreeing with Hummie that your first photo is a cicada. I didn't know they lived here in our part of the US, but they do! They're just smaller and less than what's in the east.
